My name is Muriel – Muir Gheal – which means “white sea” in the Gaelic. I’m a crofters daughter from the Isle of Skye. I didn’t learn English until I was 6 years old when I went to school. My father came from the Isle of Harris in the outer Hebrides and my mother was from the Isle of Skye. So the Gaelic you learn from me is authentic Gaelic still spoken in the islands to this day.
